10th June 1967Princess Margrethe, Heiress Presumptive of Denmark, the future Queen Margrethe II of Denmark married Henri de Laborde de Monpezat at the Church of Holmen in Copenhagen, Denmark. The ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on 25th May 1967, but was later postponed due to Margrethe’s youngest sister, Anne Marie’s pregnancy. Anne Marie gave birth to Crown Prince Pavlos on 20th May. However, 1967 was the year of a coup d’etat in Greece, leaving the family more or less in captivity and unable to travel to Denmark. It was initially believed that Anne-Marie would be allowed to attend alone while the Danish government advised Constantine not to attend, but in the end neither made it to the celebrations. This will feature in our future series, Royal Wedding gowns down the Ages. The couple reached their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2017 but sadly the Prince died in early 2018.(Courtesy of pregnancy wedding dresses
