THE UNEXPECTED LOVE

Episode 47
A Story Written By Bright Daniel Tochi averted her eyes from Linda immediately the
sound came from the door. She couldn’t guess who
the person was because nobody had ever knocked
at her door. Her mother only opened it without
knocking or knock and opens instantly. Was it
Wisdom? No, Wisdom only go straight to the backyard and rather make himself known using his
mouth than knocking. Sometime, he doesn’t even
say a word but stands at the door until his presence
is noticed.
Tochi cracked the door opened. “Kingsley?” she
dried her tears again and rubbed her hands on her black skirt like a Tata.
Hearing the name, Kingsley, Linda sat up gazing at
the door. She couldn’t see anybody but Tochi. But
when the door was opened widely, she saw
Kingsley gradually walking towards her. While
Tochi stood at the door to take a look of what will happen.
“kingsley..” Linda paused.
“How can i stay when i know you are in pains?”
Kingsley began. He stood beside the bed staring at
her. “If i dont forgive you who will i forgive? If i
turn my back on you, definitely i I’m turning my heart and feelings down…”
Linda jumped up from the bed and hugged him
crying uncontrollably. “I’m so sorry. Please, forgive
me..”
“Is okay, i’ve forgiven you already” Kingsley held
her tightly while she cried on his shoulder… *
Wisdom and Chester were together in the room-
Chester’s. It was no different from one of the rooms
he entered when still in London-the electric white
bulb, pumping bed and pillows and other modern
materials. “Guy, you are lucky” Wisdom adjusted on the bed
wearing a light T-shirt which matched his
complexion. “Or should i say Esther is lucky?”
“We are both lucky” Chester replied in front of a
mirror. He adjusted his tie in a black suit then
turned. “How do look?” “You luck great. Now, i can say that Esther is the
one lucky”
“Why, bro?”
“Because you are far more handsome” they
grinned.
“You won’t believe how beautiful she is now” Chester went back to the mirror but Wisdom
remained quiet. “That reminds me, isn’t it time you
propose to Tochi?”
“Propose?”
Chester turned as if the question was weird. “Yes,
pro-po-se” he opened his eyes widely. “Calm down, bro. I will definitely do that”
“When? Until thy kingdom come? All these boys
around will take her from you if you don’t act fast”
he returned to the mirror again smiling at his own
joke.
“Tochi can never fall for that” Wisdom boasted smiling too.

Linda minimized the rate of her tears. She sat side
by side with Kingsley on the bed. However, Tochi
had gone out giving them some privacy.
“You know what?” Kingsley began. “I also have a confession to make. If i were to be a girl, i would wedding dresses for mature brides
probably be in your shoes now. So it doesn’t matter
anymore. What matters now is after everything, we
still love ourselves” he looked at her. “I still love
you”
Linda stared at him but suddenly averted her eyes. “But what about the pregnancy? Should i abort it?”
“No! Don’t, the owner will one day come for it. Don’t
harm an innocent child” he hugged her.
* # THREE_WEEKS_LATER Calista had wedded already. Now it was Chester’s
wedding.
Jennifer, who was her bride’s maid, and her mother
totally became deep into the things of God.
The news was everywhere-television, news paper,
social media: That the only son of Mr Silva was getting married to a daughter of Mr Godwin.
Everybody was in the church-Tochi, the bride’s
maid of Esther, Wisdom, the best-man of Chester,
Linda, kingsley, Jennifer, Calista and her husband,
Edwin, Melody, even Mr Nelson, the principal and Mr
Anuma who stood beside him admiring their handwork-bringing up the children academically.
Mr Anuma adjusted his eyeglasses when the
marriage kicked off. “I will enjoy this” he nodded
his head.
Tochi and Wisdom occasionally glanced at each
other when the priest was joining Esther and Chester together. However, Jennifer noticed a fair
handsome guy admiring her from a distant. She
averted her eyes instantly when their eyes caught.
“You may now kiss your pride” the priest
announced. Then Chester slowly unveiled Esther
and kissed her. Everybody began to clapped. Kingsley glanced at Linda. He smiled at her and held
her closer to himself as not to feel… outside the
box.
“Better get prepared oh” Melody whispered to
Edwin and they laughed.
The wedding came to an end. When the pride and the groom went home, everybody, who knew Mr
Anuma gathered around him outside the church
feeling happy to see him once again. Even Mr
Anuma was surprise to see how fat, tall matured
and most of all, handsome and beautiful his
students were. “Sir, i miss you!”
“Yes, even your grammar!”
“And your mode of talking!”
“Even your dressing!” they all shouted and
laughed.
“Look at you now!” Mr Anuma adjusted his eyeglasses and put his hand inside his pocket. “See
how predominantly your bodies have squash
unflinchingly”
They laughed. Even Mr Anuma smiled at his own
words. Just then, Jennifer noticed the guy coming
to her.. :

Jennifer pretended as if he hadn’t seen the guy but
she was forced to turn when he finally stood beside her as if he also knew who Mr Anuma was but he
didn’t say anything when both glanced at each
other and concentrated to Mr Anuma.
Vivian and Kingsley never departed from Linda’s
side.
“I’m seeing a lot of refurbishment on your faces” Mr Anuma continued. “This can wondrously make
some boys unflappable and philanthropically take
you to the alter”
“Sir, when will you change from being a
grammarian?” Jennifer asked.
“Until death do us apart” he replied then they laughed again.
Mr Anuma entered his car and drove away. To him,
it was actually fun to be with his best students. That
was a feeling he would never forget.
“Stay away from nefarious activities” he had said
before he left. The guy turned to Jennifer. He was on suit as if he
was the person wedding on that day.
“He’s so hilarious” he said looking at Jennifer with
his hands in his pocket.
“Yes, he is” Jennifer replied.
Meanwhile, others were standing on twos at different angles discussing and reminding
themselves about their old school lives. Calista
occasionally glanced at Jennifer and the guy then
smiled without anybody noticing the cause.
Kingsley, Vivian and Linda, after they had some
quality time went home together. “Who is he?” the guy was still inquisitive.
“Oh, he’s our former grammarian” Jennifer smiled.
She couldn’t look at his face because he was too
handsome to look at, having attractive beards
round his cheek with dimples. “He’s our former
teacher” she clarified. “Okay, now i understand” the guy stretched his
hand forward. “I’m Dickson”
Jennifer glanced at his face and took his hand
gently. “I’m Jennifer”
“I guess your wedding isn’t coming up soon. If it is,
i will have to bribe the groom, postpone the wedding and kidnap you to the alter” they laughed
at the joke.
“You are so funny!”
“Don’t mind me. Anyways, do you mind giving me
your card?”
“I will rather have yours” Jennifer said as an afterthought then smiled.
Dickson handed his card to her and departed
before Jennifer moved closer to Calista. She said
nothing until Dickson drove off. Just then, Melody
came and hugged them as old friends while James
shook hands with Edwin. “Girls!” Melody began. “Meet my fiance, Edwin
Goodness!”
“Wow, I’m so happy for you!” Calista exclaimed.
“So, after writing waec in our school, you also
decided to take one of our students. Is not fair oh!
Their-ris God oh!” Jennifer sounded funny and they laughed.

It had been a great day. So great that none, even
Linda remembered their past and present situation-
if they had any. Jennifer had told Calista about
Dickson. “I think he’s nice” she had said.
“I saw how humble and funny he was, even
though i didn’t hear your conversations. Girl, you
are good to go!” Calista had concluded with
laughter.
Now, it was more than 24hours Dickson had not been himself waiting patiently to hear Jennifer
calling on the phone. Suddenly, his phone rang
then he quickly picked it up.
“Hello, is Jennifer”
“God, i have been expecting your call”
“Really? Why?” “That’s a reason i can’t explain”
“Well, now that i have called..”
“I will always be at your service” Dickson
interrupted then they laughed. They had a lovely
conversation and promised to know each other
better. *
Kingsley secretly met Mr Thompson to have a manly
discussion with him. It wasn’t easy but the spirit of
love moved him. He sat in the sittingroom with him
and told him how much he loves Linda, even how it
all started before he traveled. “I understand Linda has done something bad.
“Kingsley began. “Please, temper justice with mercy
and take her back as your own child again. I will
father the child that she carries. I love her so much.
Please, forgive her..”
Mr Thompson had a deep breath. He adjusted his wrapper with his head forward. “You have spoken
well but is not my decision to make. It is hers,
whether she will agree for you to father the child or
not”
“That isn’t a problem” Kingsley replied smiling.
“I will bring her back” Mr Thompson concluded. *
A few days later after Linda went back to her
parents, Wisdom called Tochi to have a stroll with
her at WISS. It was holiday. They walked around
the school compound holding hands until Wisdom
took her to the tree where they stayed during the heavy rainfall.
“What are we doing here?” Tochi questioned
looking up the tree.
“I brought you here to remind myself what
happened”
“What happened here, apart from i slept in your arms?
“Something more than that happened”
“What?” Tochi stared at his eyes.
“What happened was that i fell inlove with you. This
is where my heart started beating for you” he knelt
with a leg. “Please, Tochukwu Desmond, marry me and make me a father”
Tochi was already carried away emotionally, so a
tear ran down her eyes. “Yes, i will marry you,” she
replied.
Wisdom fixed the ring and kissed her passionately..
